Québec hunting zone 8 South — white-tailed deer, moose and black bear (2026 season)

In zones 1 to 12, 14 to 16, 22, 26 and 27, as well as in wildlife reserves and certain ZECs, the hunter must now have obtained, through the draw, a moose without antlers hunting licence (any moose with antlers less than 10 cm) in order to harvest a moose without antlers.

Starting in 2026, in several zones, moose hunting will no longer operate under a system of alternating permissive and restrictive years.

In zones 13, 18 and 28, the alternating-year system will remain in effect. Moose without antlers hunting will therefore be closed in 2026 (restrictive year) and open in 2027 (permissive year). However, in zone 13, it will also be open during the bow and crossbow hunting season in 2026.

The white-tailed deer bag limit is now 2 deer per hunter per year , except in zone 20 (Anticosti Island), coming from two different zones, except in zones 4, 5 East, 5 West, 6 North, 6 South, 7 South, 8 East, 8 North and 8 South, where you may harvest your 2 deer, of which only one may be an antlered deer, within the same zone. The regular licence and additional licence each allow you to harvest one deer in any zone other than zone 20. Your first deer must come from a zone or part of a zone other than zone 20 (Anticosti Island). Once you have killed the first deer, you must then kill the second in a different zone from the zone in which you hunted (excluding zone 20). This requirement does not apply in zones 4, 5 East, 5 West, 6 North, 6 South, 7 South, 8 East, 8 North and 8 South, where you may harvest your 2 deer, of which no more than one may be an antlered deer, within the same zone.

A hunter may kill 2 black bears per year : one during the spring season and one in selected zones during the fall season. Harvesting is allocated by hunting zone, as follows: Spring season : one black bear in all hunting zones except zones 20 and 22 Fall season : one black bear in hunting zones 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 19, 23, 24, 26, the western portion of zone 27 and zone 29.

Food may not be used as bait for black bear during the following periods: From July 1 to August 15 in zones 16, 17, 19, the western portion of zone 27 and zone 29 From July 1 to August 31 in zones 1 to 15, 18, 26, the eastern portion of zone 27 and zone 28. See the hunting zone maps .
