Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is a world-renowned backcountry skiing destination in British Columbia. With a vertical drop of 1,260m, it offers 84 runs, golden powder corridor, heli-access available against the stunning backdrop of the coastal rainforest, Rocky Mountains, interior plateau.

From Kelowna, the drive is approximately 1.5-2.5 hours. GPS: 52.9°N, 116.6°W. Mountain roads — winter tires mandatory from October to April. Carry chains. Airport shuttle available from the nearest regional airport. Road conditions can change rapidly — check DriveBC/511 before departure.

Plowed parking area at the trailhead. Overflow parking with shuttle service on busy days. Heated day lodge at the base with lockers, boot room, and washrooms. RV overnight parking available with advance booking.

Season: December - April. December-January: Early season — base builds up. Holiday weeks are crowded but festive. January-February: Core season with the most reliable snow. March: Spring skiing at its finest — warm sun, soft snow, and après vibes. Some of the best powder days happen in March storms. April: Closing weekend celebrations. T-shirt skiing and slush bumps.
Terrain et topographie
Vertical drop: 1,260m. Trail system winds through coastal rainforest. Tree skiing is excellent on storm days. Alpine bowls above treeline offer exposed, wind-affected skiing. Aspect: North-facing slopes hold snow longest. Base elevation: 1,500-2,500m.

Trail pass required — available at the trailhead or online. Helmets strongly recommended (mandatory for children at most resorts). Backcountry users must carry avalanche safety equipment: transceiver, probe, and shovel. Uphill travel policies vary — check with the resort before skinning up. Follow the Skier's Responsibility Code at all times.
