From Banff, head north — the drive takes approximately 4-5 hours. GPS coordinates: 57.8°N, 107.0°W. The final stretch is on gravel road — high-clearance vehicle recommended during spring thaw. Cell service becomes spotty about 30 minutes before arrival.

Public boat launch with paved ramp and trailer parking for 20+ vehicles. Parking is free year-round. Shore fishing access is available along the eastern bank. Arrive early on weekends during peak season — the lot fills up by 7 AM.

Spring (May-June): Post-ice-out is prime time for Lake Trout. Water temperatures are ideal and fish are actively feeding after the long winter.
Summer (July-August): Switch to early morning and late evening bites. Deep water trolling produces best results.
Fall (September-October): Arguably the best season — cooler water triggers aggressive feeding. Fewer crowds and excellent catch rates.
Winter: Ice fishing is productive from January through March. Check ice conditions with local outfitters.

Maximum depth: 201m. The lake bottom features a mix of gravel beds, submerged timber, and weed beds that provide excellent habitat structure. The surrounding landscape is Rocky Mountain foothills with dense tree cover right to the shoreline. Water clarity is excellent — 3-5 metres visibility in summer. The eastern bay is shallow — use caution with motor boats.

A valid Alberta fishing licence is required for all anglers 16 and older. Licences can be purchased online through the provincial government website or at local tackle shops. Catch-and-release is encouraged for trophy-sized fish to maintain the healthy population.
